EXCEPTIONAL TRANSPORT

Transport, lifting and launching of Lord Byron Hydrofoil from Arona to Dervio, via Parè Valmadrera

Intermarine, a historic Italian company in the sector, used our services to transfer a hydrofoil belonging to the Gestione Navigazione Laghi fleet, called “Lord Byron”, from Lake Maggiore to Lake Como.

The execution of the assignment was preceded by several preliminary technical activities, including a careful analysis of the route, numerous site inspections and the study of the most correct lifting and towing methods, as well as administrative and insurance checks.

In close collaboration with the Client, we planned a solution that would allow the service to be carried out in several phases. Through the use of specially equipped semi-trailers and supports created specifically for the hull and superstructure of the vessel, it was possible to load the ship flat, without tilting. This was also possible thanks to the invaluable assistance of the Intermarine shipyard staff, present both in Arona and Valmadrera. The transports, carried out in teams and at night, suitably escorted by our pilot cars, went smoothly and the convoy had already reached its destination at dawn.

With the fundamental support of Forti Sollevamenti company, the lifting operations began early in the morning, in the splendid setting of Paré bay in Valmadrera. Thanks to the use of powerful cranes and numerous technical assistance vehicles, the work of expert personnel allowed Lord Byron to be placed on the water surface within the pre-established times. Our work concluded with the support of the Client for the launching operations of the motor vessel, and the Lord Byron, already shortly after midday, freed from the chains, was towed towards the destination shipyard in Dervio.
